On The Edge 02/07/2022

Photo 1

For this assignment, we had to create an aesthetically appealing photograph with the subject on the edge of the photograph. The subject needs to touch or be very close to at least one edge of the photo frame.

The subject that I used for this photo was a succulent that was the object of with more size than other parts of the photo.

But the photo that I use for this assignment (Photo 1) was a wrong one. But a better photo would have been Photo 2. In Photo 2, the main object was the trunk of the tree, which became more appealing thanks to the light effect, being in one of the rule of thirds parts, and the blur background.

Things 02/17/2022

Photo 3

For this assignment, we had to photograph "things" in a visually interesting way. While shooting photos for this project, I find myself mesmerize for things that I thought I would never look at normally. One of these things was a little bug that was on my house garden.

In this composition we had to implement the use of aperture to capture a DOF that may make the subject more appealing or to stand up more. We had the chance to use the exposure of color and make it more vibrant, or just use black and white to make some parts more brilliant than others.

I really love how this image turn up and how the composition let you travel from the but to the plants on focus.

HDRI 02/24/2022

Photo 4

For this assignment, we had to create a HDR image. To be able to do that, we had to take multiple pictures of the same scene but with different exposures each and merge them together on Lightroom as a HDR image.

For my photo, I took a total of 5 different photos of the same scene, which make its format size bigger and a little hard to work with. After that, we had to edit the different exposures of the RBG colors on the same image, making it more easy to achieve the wanted colors and even texture, helping me to bring details that were lost on the picture.

Panorama 02/30/2022

Photo 5

For this assignment, we had to create a panorama image. To be able to do that, we had to take multiple pictures of the same scene but moving the camera a little to the side to be able to take the different parts that we needed to make a panoramic image.

For my photo, I took a total of 5 photos of the scene that I wanted to make. I had to think of what I wanted to show up on my image and try to calculate how much of the image would be crop. After that, we had to unite all images in photoshop by using the Photomerge. It was interesting seen how the image was coming to live with each edit.

Motion 03/24/2022

Photo 6

For this assignment, we had to take different pictures with different shutter speeds. This was a good opportunity to see how an image was able to change just by changing this speed.

For my photo, I took a total of 6 photos of the same object with different shutter speeds. I saw that some people took different photos, but I decided to do the “same” photo and change the different shutter speed to see exactly how it change. After that, we had to use Photoshop and create a Contact Sheet there and name the different shutter speeds that we use in each photo.

Photo 7

But one of the things that I like the most, is how photos came out with the lowest shutter speed (example of this is Photo 7).

Portrait 04/01/2022

Photo 8

For this assignment, we had to make a portrait of someone. The subject had to be a human that was willingly letting you take a picture of them, using some of the techniques that we were teach before.

For my subject, I decided to make a portrait of my cousin. I took a loot of picture with different angles and different sizes, but I decided to use a whole-body picture with her little dog because of my cousin’s character. She is really cheerful and optimistic, and I thought that her dog and the carefree pose would express that.

For the edit, I use not that much of edit. Just a hue and saturation change, and some liquifying to make her smile more, as well as to cover one scar that the little dog has on her face.

Portrait 04/21/2022

Photo 9

For this assignment, we had to create a hyper realistic picture. This was a good opportunity to use all our Photoshop knowledge to make the picture look realistic and imaginative at the same time.

For my concept, I wanted to express how people feel trap by themselves. Because we tent to “filter” what we say or do to fit in society, we tent to trap our action to prevent any altercations with other people.

For my photos, I took one photo of my subject holding a glass cup, looking at it with a judgmental face. At first, this glass cup was going to contain water, representing how “drown” people feel when trapping themselves, but I decided to remove it to a lighter meaning of contention like trapping a bug to let it out. For my second image, I took the photo on the same lighting of my subject pretending to be trapped. The face of my subject I one of distress, for how the person may feel inside themselves.

This was a fun project. I was having some difficulties taking the pictures because it was raining. With the pictures that I was able to get, it was quickly for me to create the final image because of the tutorials that were given to us. At the end, it was really gratifying to see the final image come together and see how different images came together to create a new image.

Although I think I still have a lot to learn and the image could have been better, I still was happy with how the image turned out. This was one of my favorite projects so far.

Flipbook 05/13/2022

For this assignment, I decided to create a short story of how people deal with their turmoil of emotions. Before taking the picture, I had to set up and space with enough light and free space, as well as a white background so it could be easier to see the character and they could contrast with each other more. I had to tape my background and tripod so they would not move while I took the pictures. I also had to use sculpting tools to be able to sculpt the different faces of the characters.

I had problems getting enough photos. The story ended up being shorter than expected and, because I hadn’t had experience with stop motion animation, my skills were not as good as I would have liked.

But the lighting was good, and, thanks to that, I didn’t have to adjust the white balance. The animation was also easy to follow and constant.

If I had to change something on this animation, was the duration and the number of scenes. I would have like to do a little bit more of animations, so they look more fluid, and my sculpting skills to make them look better.

This attempt changed a lot more in quality than the previous attempt. The animation was more fluid, and the sculpting was even better than before. I could see my improving with framing too, as well as preventing my hands from appearing on the photographs.

The story: A little happy emotion wakes up alone. From the sky falls a sad emotion. The two emotions looked at each other and the sad emotion overpower the happy one. After consuming the happy emotion, the sad emotion goes to sleep. From the sad comes an angry emotion and the sad emotion wakes up. After both emotions look at each other, the angry emotion tries to overpower the sad emotion, and the sad emotion remembers what it did to the happy emotion before. The angry and sad emotions fight with each other, and the happy emotion appears within their fight.  The three emotions decided to live in harmony and became one, representing the balance of emotions that all humans have.
